About Nathan
📍 Portland, OR
Nathan Cole is a serious home cook of fifteen-plus years who's owned and worn out more cookware than he'd care to admit. He compiles The Clad Kitchen's recommendations from construction specs, materials knowledge, and the consensus of people who actually cook on the gear.
About The Clad Kitchen
The Clad Kitchen is a recommendations site for cookware — stainless and tri-ply, premium nonstick and ceramic, enameled cast iron and Dutch ovens, carbon steel, and the brands worth comparing (All-Clad, Caraway, Le Creuset, Staub, HexClad, Made In, GreenPan, Lodge and more).
I'm Nathan Cole. I've cooked seriously for fifteen-plus years and gotten deep into why cookware performs the way it does — cladding, core materials, heat behaviour, induction compatibility, how a pan holds up over years of real use.
How I pick
I don't run a testing lab, and I won't pretend to. Every recommendation comes from comparing construction and specs, materials knowledge, and close attention to owner reviews and community consensus — the long-term owner threads, the cookware subreddits — weighed against my own years cooking. When a pan looks great on paper but owners report it warps or the coating fails, the owners win.
What I won't do
No invented "hands-on testing." No prices in articles (they move constantly — I describe gear as budget / mid-range / premium). No medical claims about coatings — I'll tell you factually what the materials are and what owners report, not make health pronouncements. And if a category has no pick I'd actually stand behind, I'll say so.
